Architects and Designers

In 2015 architect Nick Eldridge founded Eldridge Newlyn at Chywoone Barn one mile from the fishing port of Newlyn in Cornwall.

With an already established practice in London known for a range of cutting-edge projects in the UK and overseas the new office will focus on regional projects in the south-west of the country.

Having converted a stone barn to create studio space, the practice has already produced a prototype combining restoration of the original fabric with a contemporary interior. The project allows the practice to physically demonstrate its design approach to potential clients visiting the studio.

Current projects include the design and construction of The Modular, a low-cost modular house assembled on site from workshop-fabricated components and incorporating renewable technology. The project has been exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in London and has generated significant interest as a form of single and multiple housing units in rural communities.
